We have an appointments system – appointments are for 10 minutes – If you have more than one problem you may feel you need to ask for a double appointment. Urgent and non-urgent appointments may be arranged by telephone or in person.

Test Results
Please telephone between 11.30am – 12.30pm or 2.00pm – 2.30pm, Monday - Friday for results of tests requested by your doctor. The Doctor or Nurse will advise you when a result should be available and the Receptionist will pass the Doctor’s comments on to you.

Update on measles outbreak declared on Merseyside

A measles outbreak has been declared on Merseyside. There are 13 confirmed and 16 suspected cases ranging in age from nine months to adults aged in their 20s. Six people, four children and two adults, required treatment in hospital. This compares to just one confirmed case on Merseyside in the first six weeks of 2011 and one in the corresponding period of 2010.

Update on Legionnaires’ Cluster Associated with a Hotel in Spain

10 February 2012, 1400hrs. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has this week been alerted by the Spanish public health authorities about a further case of Legionnaires’ Disease in a UK resident who stayed at the Diamante Beach Hotel in Calpe, Costa Blanca, as well as two French cases. This brings the total number of UK residents associated with this cluster to 12, with three deaths.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS/DISPENSING REVIEWS

Regular prescriptions may be requested by telephone on answer phone 01986 874620, by fax 01986 874908, in person or by post (including a SAE), or by leaving your repeat slip at Boots Pharmacy in Halesworth or Cutlers Hil Pharmacy on our site.

It is most important that you allow 3 working days between requesting and collecting the MEDICATION on your repeat prescription: please see details below. Each computerised prescription has a tear off portion with details of medication, which should be used to make the next request. (If you simply require a REPEAT PRESCRIPTION to take elsewhere, the number of hours from requesting a prescription to availability for collection is 48 hours or less, excluding weekends and Bank/local Holidays).

A medication review date for when you are due to see your Doctor or Nurse is on the repeat slip. You may not be issued with more medication until you have discussed this with the Doctor or Nurse.

We also carry out dispensing reviews to ensure patients understand the purpose of the medicines they are taking and to counter wastage/over-usage of medication. Mrs Marian Reeder, Dispensary Adviser, will undertake these reviews at the Surgery (or at a patient’s home if necessary). The reviews take the form of a 10 – 15 minute face-to-face appointment and the completion of a short questionnaire.

Our Dispensers must be able to concentrate on dispensing and checking medication accurately and efficiently. Please help by ordering your prescription in good time.

DISPENSARY

We are a dispensing Practice and can dispense medicines for patients who live more than one mile (1.6km) from a pharmacy (measured 'as the crow fliles'). It is likely to take up to 15 minutes to dispense your medication as it is measured, labelled and then checked by a second Dispenser. If you are unable to wait, please come back later to collect your medication.

PRESCRIPTION DELIVERY SERVICE

We provide a delivery service for country patients who do not have to pay for their prescriptions. The delivery is to the following places on Thursday afternoon/evening;Emmerdale Farm Shop - Darsham, Bramfield - Clarkes Butchers, Huntingfield Arms, Linstead Farm & Garden, Rumburgh Buck, Walberswick Tuck Shop, Wenhaston Post Office, Westhall Post Office, Yoxford Post Office, Peasenhall Post Office, Blythburgh Post Office & Stores.

If you wish to make use of the delivery service please let the Dispensary know at least 3 working days in advance so that your medication can be prepared for it to be delivered on Thursday.

GENERIC PRESCRIBING

Where possible, Doctors in this Practice prescribe by generic names of medicines rather than manufacturers’ brand names. This is a guideline promoted by the government. It means that the appearance of the tablets, capsules, etc may not always be the same even if they contain the same medicine. We issue 1 month repeat prescriptions only, in accordance with government guidelines.
